It's A Homemade Spaghetti Kinda Day

I don't know about you but Sunday is the day
I like best to spend some time in the kitchen.
No-one is bothering me about what's for dinner because
I can start it way before they are starvin' marvin.
 My middle one would eat spaghetti
 So every once in awhile
I break out the big pot and make a
double batch of home-made sauce,
 it takes awhile to cook so it's perfect for Sunday.
 I always freeze half of it for later {good idea}.
 My mom is a terrific cook
and her sauce is the best I've ever had.
So I thought today I would share it with you...

Maralyn's Spaghetti Sauce

1/4 cup olive oil                                            1/2 c chopped onion
1lb. ground beef                                            1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can undrained mushrooms                         1/4 c fresh parsley or 2 tsp dried
1 8oz can tomato sauce                                 1 tsp salt
2 C tomatoes                                                 1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp oregano                                              1 bay leaf
dash basil

Cook onion in olive oil for 5 minutes.  Add ground beef and garlic and cook until meat is browned.  Add the rest of the ingredients.  Cook covered for 1 hour. Cook for 1 hour more uncovered or until desired consistency.  Like I said I usually double this and freeze freezes like a champ.

Have a happy week!!

{PUMPKINS} I love em...

Oh how we love pumpkin season.
You did know this gourd-ish
squash has its own season, right?
Winter, Spring, Summer, Pumpkin...
We anxiously anticipate it every year.
~Trader Joe's {Fearless Flyer}

It's true.
Their bright orange loveliness
brings a smile to my face
and happy to my heart.
It's almost time...
I can feel it in the air.
  They are almost ripe and
 I will soon be picking up
 wayyy too many
from my favorite punkin' spot
and putting them
here, there, and everywhere
 in preparation for the show.

Pictures {redone}

I am NOT a whiz at PhotoShop.
Thanks to Kim Klassen I can at least use it a little bit.
When Picnik shut down I thought I was done for
in the photo editing department.
But then I found two photo editing sites
that are the
(Did you know that you cannot use the
on Facebook...go ahead, try it.  It won't let you.)
So I thought I would share them with you.
First of all...Pixlr.
If you go to the
it is seriously one of the coolest things ever!
AND you can download it onto your phone
to use on Instagram...which I may or may not be
slightly addicted to.
Play with will LOVE it.
I guarantee it.

{before Pixlr}

{after Pixlr}

If you are looking for easy-peasy,
PicMonkey is the place to go.
It is what I use if I have to re-size or
add text really quickly and easily.
It kind of took the place of Picnik but
it is 1,000 times better I think.

{before PicMonkey}

{after PicMonkey}

So, there you go.
Two of my favorite places on the www.
Have a great day and go edit some photos.
